Stone, Bone, Antler & Shell: Artifacts of the Northwest Coast
Published in Hardcover by Douglas & McIntyre (June, 1996)
Author: Hilary Stewart
Average review score:

MORE than just a beautiful "coffeetable" book!
It's been awhile since I picked it up, but I was impressed by the ease with which a layperson could understand the intricacies of the lore and ethnology of the Native Americans. The photographs and drawings are beautiful, the information about artifacts and culture are accurate.

Stone, Log and Earth Houses: Building With Elemental Materials
Published in Paperback by Taunton Press (December, 1986)
Author: Magnus Berglund
Average review score:

Covers lots.
This book covers stone, log, and earth construction quite well. I would highly recommend getting other books though, that are based only on the subject you are going to build with.

The Stone-Campbell Movement
Published in Paperback by College Press Publishing Company, Inc. (August, 1995)
Author: Leroy Garrett
Average review score:

A Great History Source for All Branches of the Restoration M
I purchased this book and read it in 1982. It is a great source for the history of all three branches of the Restoration Movement. Mr Garrett has preached in all three branches of the Movement and is very familiar with all. He was also my American History teacher at Dallas Christian College.

Any way, the book is well documented (footnotes & bibliography). It is easy to read and very informative. It appears to me to be a fair treatment of all three branches of the Movement.

The Stone: A Persia Legend of the Magi
Published in Hardcover by Farrar Straus & Giroux (Juv) (October, 1998)
Authors: Dianne Hofmeyr and Jude Daly
Average review score:

A moving story that tugs at our heart strings
This moving story that tugs at our heart strings reminds us of the important values we base our lives on. Decisions we make as adults often seem automatic. In reality these "choices" reflect our values; values moulded and established when we were still children. How? Through stories, magical stories passed on from person to person, from generation to generation. This story is a wonderful return to 'traditional' teaching methods, storytelling at its finest.

It is also written by my mom.

Stones (Diagnostic Book)
Published in Paperback by Heinemann (January, 1985)
Author: Marie M. Clay
Average review score:

Fast-track Diagnosis of Reading Readiness
This book is designed for use with an observation survey determining a child's reading readiness and his/her concepts about print. Some pages have the words in strange order, some pages are upside-down, and so on, although superficially it looks like a "normal" book. It is illustrated and has big type, the illustrations facing the type pages. In line with the California Reading Initiative and the assembly bills requiring informed diagnosis of children's reading readiness and progress, and multiple assessments thereof, this is a valuable diagnostic tool for children entering school, to be used with the test script on page 47-48 of Marie Clay's An Observation Survey of Early Literacy Achievement.

Stones and Bones: Powerful Evidence Against Evolution
Published in Paperback by Master Books (December, 1996)
Author: Carl Wieland
Average review score:

An outstanding Primer on Creation Science!
Dr. Wieland's booklet was handed out to over 6000 teachers during the more recent NEA Conventions.

The information in the booklet has proven to be most provocative & enlightening to those who have be victims of scientific censorship of valid empirical data that is unfavorable to evolutionary beliefs and dogma!

Stones and Other Works
Published in Paperback by Harry N Abrams (March, 1987)
Authors: Alan Magee and Theodore F. Wolff
Average review score:

Magee's stone paintings are serene, flawless, astonishing!
I have spent a lot of time gathering smooth, waterworn stones along beaches and streams, and have always loved their graceful rounded shapes, and their setting, the way they settle with each other. Alan Magee captures this feeling perfectly. Looking at his book, no one can believe these are paintings. Trompe l'oeile, fool the eye painting of the 19th century, comes to mind - and he does a few paintings in that style. But those paintings are ultra-natural, ultra precise. His do not call attention to their precision. All you see is his subject. Can you act natural? Can you lay out a garden, or leaves, or stones so that they look natural? I've looked at a lot of stones, and I could not lay out actual stones in as natural a setting as he sets them in his paintings. Look for this book!

Stones Cookbook: Vegetarian Recipes from Stones Restaurant
Published in Paperback by Ebury House (July, 1999)
Authors: Hilary Howard, Ebury Press, and Wood
Average review score:

Hard-to-find cookbook from a magical Restaurant.
This is the second cookbook published by the STONE'S RESTAURANT -- which opened in 1984 and is located in the city of Avebury (in the county of Wiltshire) in England.

The mysterious Avebury standing stones are located just a few miles from the more famous Stonehenge. J.R.R.Tolkein was sitting under a tree within the prehistoric Avebury standing stones when he was inspired with the concept for writing "The Hobbit" stories.

The Stone's Restaurant building is a stone barn, (once part of an Elizabethan manor), and was built within the Avebury circle of standing stones. The restaurant also has an organic garden, freshly picked produce is used in each day's menu.

This cookbook is vegetarian and the recipes taste best when you use natural and organic ingrediants. Each recipe has been developed to be visually colorful and attractive, as well as delicious. The recipes are inspired by international food traditions, yet use commonly available ingrediants.

Sample menu with a Mexican flavor:
* Chilled Avocado Soup with lime.
* Torta Mexicana (corn tortillas layered between vegetable filling and refried beans).
* Toppings of sour cream and tomato salsa.
* Cheesy zapallo succotash (spicy squash with cheese).
* Poppy seed parfait (cooked custard with poppy seeds and whipped cream).

This is a good cookbook, most of the recipes are easy to make and they turn out delicious as well as beautiful.
